  • Bomb goes off in Yale Univ. mail room....

Developing story, but reports are that at least one wall collapsed and doors were blown off their hinges. No info on injuries, but a tower cam shows smoke billowing over the building.

Homeland Security Dept. watching developments, but terrorism task force is already on the scene.

This just a few hours after an Al Qaeda type warned of impending attacks.

This should probably be moved to the temp forum..

But I'm sure I'm not the only one who made the connection that Yale happens to be Bush's Alma Mater and one of his daughters goes there.

Just OT, didn't Bush go to Harvard?

He got his grad degree from Harvard. His undergraduate years were spent at Yale.

Just OT, does it even matter what university he went to? It doesn't seem to have had any effect on him

Well, the fact that he managed to get degrees from two of the top universities in the U.S. makes the people who call him stupid look stupid themselves. Oh, wait.. daddy followed him to class with a wad of money every day and bribed all his professors to pass him, that's right.

Or maybe it shows that just because you have a degree doesn't prove you're intelligent ?

Yes def temp forum. Strange it hasn't been reported over here as yet. Universities are nice easy targets due to a lack of security and proper screening.

"New Haven Mayor John DeStefano Jr. said at a press conference Wednesday evening that there was no evidence that the explosion was an act of terrorism."

This was taken from Yale's own news site. IMHO, to correlate this small explosion, apparently caused by a pipe bomb, with Al Qaeda is irresponsible and displays paranoia, which is probably the worst form of terrorism there is.

Which is probably why it hasn't been reported over here. Media induced mass hysteria is a very worrying thing.

I live about 10 minutes away from Yale (assuming no traffic over the local bridge) and I can say the local news responded immediately, and through the night did not mention anything about terrorism, except to say "Don't link it". In 45 minutes, Fox News got a hold of it, and started their small flurry, and 10 minutes later they had people talking about why Yale could be targeted by terrorism. Its looking like either a small prank or disgruntled person and the local news was taking that. It's a shame, becasue it was a beautiful building.
