  • Spam?

So, who remembers that a**h**e about a year and a half ago that signed a bunch of us who he disliked up for like 100 mailing lists?

Well, I have finally come the end of my patience.

Through diligence and patience and perserverence, I have gotten the amount of useless spam coming into my Hotmail inbox to about 10 a day.

The problem? There's no way to stop that 10. They all have fake headers, their subject lines and content fool the Hotmail spam filters, and they don't honor unsubscribe requests.

    *sigh*

So I'm probably gonna change my e-mail address.

    I feel like they won.

    ----------------

I had to change my phone number too. There was no way to stop all the faxes from calling me... I feel like THEY won, too.

Don't faxes have to put an originating number on them? You could take a road trip to wherever, barge in with a baseball bat and smash their outgoing fax machine, then run.

I don't bother with mail filters. I just hit "delete" whenever a spam mail gets into my mailbox - no big deal

Oh, and of course have a junk mail box you use for signing up etc.

Next time, get a yahoo account. Better filters, for sure.

My spamfilters are growing, my patience are diminishing

My ISP informed me recently that they had implemented severside spam filtering, wich ofcourse meant that I suddenly got more spam than ever

Yahoo's "spam filters" are worse than useless. I get HUNDREDS of spam messages daily in my Yahoo box. Thankfully I don't give out my REAL Yahoo address to anyone.

If I used a client-side spam filter, like the new ones that are addons for outlook (what's the name of the algorithm? It's eluding me...), I would be fine, but that just doesn't help for Hotmail and Yahoo.

Well that's one way to avoid getting messages in your inbox.

Still - I dont see the problem.
I have a personal email addy for me, one i use for shopping, and one for everything else (see my email for here). Sure, my spam addy gets loads of hits, but thats what its there for. My personal addy has never got any spam.

                Basien(sp?) filtering?

As a random note, did you know that hotmail is one of the worst spammers on the net? AOL (which you have to admit is an awfully good platform for estimating spam volumes), recieves a very large portion of their spam from hotmail addresses. They may have better filters than Yahoo, but at least Yahoo doesn't send as much spam as hotmail does. Anyway, just something to think about.
