    OMG

I just finished reading your original thread, and as a parent of a 2 year old girl, was thoroughly appalled.

Who in their right mind (or maybe they're not?) would honestly allow their child to wear something like that?

It's things like that & all the pop-culture generated trends that are more & more evident in society that make it easier to understand why schools are starting to implement dress codes again.

it is horrible. i got a picture from my 16 year old cousin a couple of months ago wearing the "You can't be first, but you can be next" T-shirt. My first thoughts were to smack my aunt and uncle. They thought it was cute. I was so mad. That sort of stuff enrages me. My daughter is only 18 months, but already i fear clothes shopping for her. So much nasty stuff out there...not just the wording but the all too revealing styles as well. It's sad that society is making it seem like showing off young bodies is okay.
I'm a genie in a bottle BABY, gotta rub ME the right way!!!

Right. It's ok for teenage girls to show off their bodies, have piercings in VERY naughty places, and wear shirts that say "Wanna ****?", but it's NOT ok for men to respond to that "advertising"? Nice double standard.

The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

As a matter of interest - when then is it considered ok for a "girl"/"woman" to start wearing a thong.....................?

I must say, 16 year olds (or 14 year old, for that matter) are a whole different story - but buying little children those kinds of clothes is horrible.

Now you know why there's the lesbian "fad".

Honestly, the clothes are crass and messed up for anyone to wear. I really don't have any respect for a woman who would wear a t-shirt like you are talking about your cousin wearing, Ozbreeze. You can tell her that. I wouldn't care if she were 25 and wearing it.. actually I would have less respect for her.. imagine being that foolish at 25.

Stop trying to pinpoint some age at which it is "OK" to be a slut. It ain't OK, period. The reason you see little sluts running around is that mom is a big one.

kv, you fell for it - "older" (forgive me, from my point of view) woman usually (!) don't wear t-shirts like that.
and the teenager I know/knew who ran around with clothing like that usually wanted to provoke. gotcha, kv.

Of course they want to provoke. They want to provoke grownups to have the balls to tell them off.. it affirms to them that there is still some decency in the world. It is just like threatening suicide in a way.. they need affirmation of certain principles.

Geez you're making me feel like Dr. Phil.. stop it!

are you sure telling them off is the right way? usually that will only cause a "wohoo, it worked!"- reaction.

Yep. It's all you can do. It's then up to them to see what idiots they are being.

what about simply showing them how to do it different? living the life you want them to live?

That's a good idea.. if you are going to tell them off, you'd damn sure better live by the principles you preach. It is almost impossible for a parent who is amoral to raise a moral child and have that child's respect and love at the same time.

Maggi, as a grown up girl you should know what thong is

Ok, just for you: panties with no back and very little front.

Actually it's not thong what's wrong but a string of reactions and associations it causes. Your deutsche point of view may be different of course.
