Okay Scott.. the big question is.. why didn't you send it back to Matrox under warranty if it was not working properly and had no physical damage?

The card had a different heatsink on it and RAM sinks

      Voided Warrenty

When I had them on the card it worked fine. I decided to pull the card out a couple weeks ago and replace everything with the stock equipment (and specs) and started to have problems with it, after it was sitting in a box for a couple months in an antistatic bag. Card was only running 10mhz over spec on the core and at what the rated speed was for the memory 300 mhz.

Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

The card is sold AS IS! Hello? Frickin Idiot. Case closed. There is nothing he can do with that statement very OBVIOUS on the page. Give me a break.

Its a ferrite choaker. its possible it was broken in transit. but apart from affecting some harmoics, it wouldn't disable the card. (afaik). well no more then it already is.

Make him file a claim. i wouldn't be surprised if he damaged it himself. He bought a known DOA card. I think the real problem is he didn't read the doa bit until after the auction had ended.

Sounds like he got exactly what he paid for i.e. a non working Parhelia

              heres the lastest email:

I filed complaints with Paypal, Ebay, and my credit card company. Whether
Ebay does anything or not, My credit card company will when they see:
              1. The item was not delivered as described (no mention of physical damage)
              2. Emails specifically concerning the functionality of the card (again no
              mention of physical damage
              3. Sworn statement from Post office showing the item was improperly
              packaged.

Paypal may or may not do something. Either way the Credit Card company will
issue a chargeback against your Paypal account and Paypal in turn will
              charge you $10.00

I'd prefer not to go this route.
I guess I'll just sit on my hands for the time being

didn't the post office check the packaging when they insured it to begin with?

Guess you woulda had more fun taking it out back and shooting it with a .45, then posting the pics here. I need to do that with some of my old hardware that's just cluttering up the place.

btw, is there no way you coulda cleaned up the card and reattached the stock hs/f and sent it back anyhow? Is there some hardware monitor chip that would tell them it's been overclocked?

That was the odd thing...he claims to have never found it in the box. The photo on the auction is of my card...intact and it went into the anti static bag that way.

sounds dodgy to me.... i bet he didn't see the fact that it was damaged....
The Welsh support two teams when it comes to rugby. Wales of course, and anyone else playing England

Oh man, so now he's playing hardball huh?

I hate people who do that! When will he realise that he bought it "AS-IS"???

Good luck man, hope things turn out the way it should have.

Well here the point...Card wasn't psychically damaged prior to being shipped, but was non-funical in the regards that it didn't work with Windows XP on two different systems I had. The Card was shipped and damaged psychically either by the post office during transit or by the user during install.

I'm just wondering what will happen with paypal, the case he has is shaky at best.

                                From the auction
You are bidding on a Dead Matrox Parhelia. The Video card was pulled out my main PC a couple months ago and now no longer work since it currupts the desktop in windows. The card is sold AS IS! If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.
On Jun-05-03 at 05:04:37 PDT, seller added the following information:

Cables,DVI to VGA and Software are included
Did you ever tell him that there was no physical damage in an email? There is certainly no mention of it being physically OK in the auction.

So if you never told him there was no physical damage, all should be ok. I mean seriously, what would be one of the most likely causes of a card not working anyway?
