Liz,
I guess you don't have much to say to me.? I'm glad you survived the black widow. Your very lucky. Enjoy your new apartment. I'll be around tonight if you want to talk.

Everyone makes mistakes in life. To forgive those mistakes is a sign of a good person.
Considering your legal route, if any, it would be a good idea to give some thought to how the black widow got to you. Black widows are normally shy and live around house foundations, under porches, etc. I've killed an awful lot of them. You don't usually find them in houses or where people traffic, which of course is the point.
If the black widow got to your room in the bed linen, then perhaps the linen had been stored on shelves in a basement storeroom near one of those slot windows above or just under the ground line. And that window was open. That is just the sort of place you would find black widows.
The main point is that you were bitten in such a place and fashion, that had the hotel taken reasonable care and precaution it could not have happened, i.e., criminal negligence regarding a known and grave danger to life and limb for guests AND personnel.
Check it out.

Yes, glad you got it taken care of.. man that's scary..
mutz is right.. you might stand to gain much more than the $60,000 here.. putting your life in danger like that.. they oughta cough up a couple of million.
Well, I will be stripping my bed and checking the sheets and blankets at hotels from now on before I go to sleep.. man. bastards..
Originally posted by Helevitia Jesus Liz, glad you're OK. So this was in San Jose? The reason I ask is that we have been getting bit by tons of spiders lately. As a matter of fact, my wife has a bite on her eye lid this morning. I also have this nasty bite on my leg that is finally going away but it got all puffy and infected.

Sounds like the start of an invasion
Here in Sweden we didn't use to have spiders big enough to bite through the skin, but lately I've seen a lot of unusualy large spiders

there you can see how global warming affects our daily live! insects become bigger (they can adsorb oxygen better at higher temps).

"Lobsters?"
"Really? I didn't know they did that."
"Oh yes, red means help!"
Whoa. That's too close. I've seen a number of spiders lately and assumed they were friendly. I always thought the black widow was nature's way of saying it didn't like Southern California.
Earthquakes. San Francisco drivers. Man/woman-eating eight legged freaks escaping from Los Angeles to bite Liz in the Bay Area. What next?
Bigger earthquakes, I suspect. And maybe bigger spiders! (Apparently, Los Alamos can't account for a few cannisters of plutonium.) At least the driving in San Francisco can't get much worse.
I'm glad Liz is fine. Liz, I think you should talk to a lawyer. If the hotel could have gotten away with charging you for that spider bite, they would have.

Well glad you made it through Lizzie. Never been bitten by a black widow, but I've had my fair share of run-ins with brown recluses (fiddle back) and they can leave pretty nasty wounds. I've been lucky in that regard, but a good friend of mine was bitten in the arm and she now has a hole about 2 inches in diameter and maybe 1/2 inch deep where she was bitten (just 4 days later with some medicine).
Anyhow, at least you came out of it without any permanent/serious damage... except for the obviously large hospital bill. Can't say how much luck you'd have, but I would definately see about getting at least partial monetary support from the hotel.

Anyone particular in mind? ;-)
That is some story ( and I am complaining about my life, god I'm pathetic.. )
Hopefully it'll have a happy ending.
All the best wishes and good luck!
