Yeah, in Northern California, the ocean is pretty damn cold. In southern California, the ocean can be warm. I've been in it when it is 72 degrees. usually it is 2-5 degrees colder though.
The weather in my town today is currently 102 degrees!

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice.
"Going back to Cali... Cali.. Cali... going back to Cali... nah, I don't think so..."
Sorry, that just somehow popped into my thought process. California isn't too bad, been back a few times -- really just depends on where you go. I do prefer the northern areas, but the beaches can be nice down south.
Just reminds me too much of Florida.

Originally posted by UtwigMU Doc, could you explain 2.5 car garage:
2 regular cars and European one or 2SUV's and spare gasoline can?
The difference is mainly that of internal width. The definitions usually go like this;
1 car: ~12 feet (3.66 meters)
1.5 car: ~16 feet (4.9 meters)
2 car: ~22 feet (6.7 meters)
2.5 car: ~26 feet (7.92 meters)
3 car: ~32 or 34 feet (9.75 or 10.36 meters)
etc. Most garages under 3 car will typically be either 20 or 24 feet deep, though they can go to 26-28 feet deep like the 3+ cars if the lot size permits.
Mine is 26x24 internal, with the extra being used as a carpentry shop. Yes, our garage can be heated by its own gas furnace (50,000 BTU) when the need arises and seldom sees a car
Some homes near us have up to 5 car garages; most bays of which are often used for small tractors, cars under restoration, lawn gear etc. and not for everyday cars.
Our house was built in 1938.
The garage is two car at 19' x 16'
Plus the garage has the water heater and CH/A in it.
The Lexus will just fit in the right side, the left is hopeless for any modern car.
I don't even think you could park a Mini in there because you couldn't get the drivers side door open.
On the other hand, you can get a nice 1750sqft, 3 bdr, wood floor, walk-in closet, etc house here in OKC for about $100,000!
You can all just move here & buy houses. I'd be fun!

PS Word to the wise: Never paint your two story house yourself! Whatever it costs, it's worth it to pay someone else to do it
I should know, that's painting junk all over the driveway.
New Jersey Real estate prices are the same way....in the two Counties I live in/by the avg house price has gone up 25% in the past couple years. My Apartment rental with a bedroom and den (second bed room with a large opening in it to the living room) with about 1000 square feet costs me $1060 a month and is going up to 1100 with out my pet fee.
Avg Home cost in NJ is $230K
I'm looking at getting a condo since it will cost about the same as the apartment I have now and wont be pissing my money away on renting.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
Yeah houses and even rentals here in Oklahoma are definately cheaper than most of the other places I've lived. We rent a decent sized house right now at $475/mo., which is only $75 more than the studio apartment I had when I lived in Florida.

A 1200-1400 sq. ft. house rents for about $700/month in our area. Basement, garage etc.
A luxury single bedroom apt. in Dearborn near the Ford offices runs about $1000/month. This place is within half a mile of a major shopping center and about 200 yards from a CompUSA

I forgot to mention that our house is 4 miles by side road from the center of downtown OKC where I work.
A 10 minute commute even if the lights are against me
