Paddy, what would you say on beeing noticeably closer, and to something like this

(think about half of it's high )

Yeah, I know, suicide due to who was performing then (this photo's from different time, and not mine of course...)
But beeing on the concert that can be discribed as one of the most exhausting experiences is worth that I'm beaten right now and with left foot big toe nail massacred, I guess

Been watching www.weather.co.uk all day. In Cobham where my g/f works it reached 32'C, 31'C where we live in Redhill and just 26'C in Southend where I work. Finally got the air con working though and it's freezing at work

Oh, and why is our country so useless.

The speed restrictions will gradually be lifted as temperatures cool throughout the evening, but will then be imposed again as they rise on Tuesday and in the coming days.

The limit has brought trains which normally travel at up to 110 miles an hour, down to 60.
          does this happen else where?

Well I've just been told by a lorry driver friend that in many Eastern European countries lorries can't drive on hot days - rips the tarmac up.

Actually we see this on the farm in Yorkshire too - generally turning the tractor tyres too quickly on soft tarmac can REALLY mess it up - because it then hardens again in tractor tyre shapes

Remarkable that air conditioning is nonexistent in Britain. You couldn't purchase a window unit like this and stick it in your window at home?

                      Oh yes, sounds familiar.
Luckily this doesn't apply to roads that were build in recent years.
But since there is only few of them...

Low 30's C sound like ideal weather, it quite cold here, it will only get to 17 today...and I hate it.

KvH, in germany, air conditioning is found almost exclusively in cars and office buildings, not homes. And we also have different windows, it wouldn't be possible to stick the unit you linked to into one of our windows (they swing open). You could buy air conditioners that stand inside a room, but they're not as cheap as what you linked to.

If you're at the beach and there's a breeze blowing.
                            ~27C is ideal for me.

It's 7.55 in the morning and it's 81F at work already. Only 62F when I left home outside so it's going to be a stinker at work.
They won't install air con at work as it's too exspensive although they can afford to waste 3 million on projects that are never going to happen.

Alas no storm just 0.2mm of rain.

You could fit those into any type of window with some finoodling.. people even cut holes in the wall for them..

The more difficult thing would be wiring.. they usually take a special 20amp plug here in the US, so even converters wouldnt work.
