Crappy week

Spent Sunday in hospital after having a seizure at home and taking a chunk out of my back as i argued with the radiator. Yesterday the house i was due to move into has fallen though for the second time, Today, I have suddenly come out in no less than eight cold sores on my lower lip.

Bah! At least i have some time off work

I just got back to work from my two week vacation. My batteries got recharged but the place is the same old headache.

Bad luck, Paddy.. well, hopefully what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. We never realize how wonderful it is just to have our health until we lose it, even for a day or two. I've been having a toothache for awhile, which is finally starting to subside, and a sprained neck and upper back, too. Life feels really great once those things are over with!

Take courage by the resilience of the human body; in my 71 years, I've been treated for the following:
1. Rheumatic pericarditis
2. Encephalitis, resulting from shingles
3. Total A/V block
4. Prostate cancer
5. Two cerebral thromboses
and I'm still alive and kicking, as grouchy as ever. OK, I've slowed down a little, but I went with my daughter the other day and climbed to the top of St Hilarion Castle, which is tough going in the summer heat (see http://www.dolphin-cyprus.com/Pictures/hilarion1.jpg ).

Went to the GP today and he thinks i have hepatitis.

I am sure he is wrong, i should find out tomorrow... At least i got a month off work

Cold sores? i have those too. try just normal white toothpaste! it will dry on and make them stop itching. looks a bit stupid but works!

Brian, was your pericarditis secondary to rheumatic fever & do you have a pacer?

Yes and yes! There is a hypothesis that the pericarditis may have weakened the bundle of Hes, even though there was, in my case, a 42-year interval between it and the AV block. However, epidemiologists have not yet found enough statistically valid evidence to be affirmative, just a vague trend. hardly above the noise level, for the moment.

In 1988 I fell on my right knee (to a lead lined radiation shielded floor no less) and crushed a sensory nerve on its medial aspect. Also crushed the pez anserine bursa right under it.

Of course at the time they decided to do an arthrogram (large needle to the knee, inject air & contrast media then take x-rays) to check out the joint itself when the pain didn't go down as it should. Cool so far and what was standard medical practice at the time.

Problems arose after the arthrogram; I could barely walk and the leg went into some kind of chronic pain syndrome from the knee to the bottom of the foot. Feels like electric shocks down the leg & having it feel like it's being turned into a fillet.

I spent 4 years learning to walk without crutches or a cane and still have problems getting around, limping, having to take meds up the arse and not having endurance in that leg.

Recently I found out new studies indicate that with knee injuries with neuropathic symptoms it's not smart to do an arthrogram because it can actually make them much more severe.

NOW they f*****g tell me
