The idea is certainly a very good one.
I have had a chance to play with it in the field because I have a buddy in the trade, and must say that while the glass is not too bad, unfortunately it needs just about perfect lighting conditions to produce any "usable" pics - usable as in willing to show it to somebody else.
The guys brought in 50 about 4 months ago and are still sitting with about 45 in stock.Lawrence

I think Pentax was the first with something like this:
(allthough I do think the binocular is not as good, the digital camera specs seem better at first sight - no pun intended - e.g. 1024x768 resolution)

I'm still looking for a telescopic sight with a camera built in
Come to think of it one for the bowsight would also be handy....

If thats the case - why not look at the Nikon Coolpix range of still cams - you can screw the ocular of a decent telescope (also microscope) directy onto the front of the cam and take a pic - works like a charm - see my post on horse skin in still pic section of the forum here.
I also remember the older Ricoh RDC7 (?) camera having the same ability - min focus distance with that was around a cm in makro mode - now thats amazingLawrence
