  • No less than 20 pits(mosh pits)

I went to Summer Sanitarium this year and saw Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Def Tones, and Mudvayne.

During Metallica, there were no less than 20 pits going at one time. They were absolutely commanding. They are truly the kings of metal. Linkin Park was suprisingly really good! They put on one of the best shows I've seen in years.

Have you ever been in a pit?

Part of me finds the idea of moshing to Metallica ... disturbing.

It's like adding water to your wine.

The other part of me finds moshing itself rather unappealing. Heh.

The Internet - where men are men, women are men, and teenage girls are FBI agents!

I'm the least you could do
If only life were as easy as you
I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
    I would still get screwed

I call it "thrashing" because the first time I did it was at a high school punk band competition and the word "mosh" just wasn't in our vocabulary.

One thing about "moshing" is you have to be strong, or else it ain't fun.

But I've been moshing a few times, and there's nothing like it. It's even better when the ppl your moshing with are the nicest kind. (you still get shoved all around pretty bad but at least when you fall there's about a dozen or so hands that pop up to help you get back up.)

hmm, I don't understand your example

Pittin' to Metallica is more like adding fuel to fire Maybe you are referring to some of their mellow music? They played a whopping ZERO slow songs. Here is the setlist:

        Battery
        Master of Puppets
        Harvester of Sorrow
        Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
        For Whom The Bell Tolls
        Frantic
        Sad But True
        St. Anger
        No Remorse
        Seek and Destroy
        Blackened
        -----------------
        Fuel
        Nothing Else Matters
        Creeping Death
        ----------------
        One
        Enter Sandman

And as far as moshing goes, it's not for everyone. What I get out of it is about 3 months worth of stress lifted off of me and a new respect for my peers. Not to mention the stories I get to tell later It's definitely an adrenaline rush. If you like adrenaline, then I fully recommend getting into the pit

Thrashin', Pittin', Moshing I used Moshing because it's the name most people will recognize.

And Zokes hit the nail on the head. It's all about helping eachother out. It is very rare when someone is not helped out. I actually make a point of it to make sure help is available. I can't tell you how many times I've been saved from certain injury It was worth every minute though.
