You forgot "Leaves me cold or utter rubbish" which would have my vote.

What didn't you like about them, Brian?

I'm a die-hard Tolkien fan, yet I love the movies...

I have to say that at first I was a bit disappointed with the theatrical version because it left out some stuff that I would have liked, but then I saw the extended version, and that extra half hour really has a lot of stuff I missed form the books in it. all in all I'm really rather happy with the way that they kept true to the books.

Have you seen the extended version yet? I'd be interested in hearing what you didn't like about the movies/books...

Have no interest in the books or the movies.....can't get into that shit....
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

If Lord of the Rings was a technical manual I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a smartie, otherwise I hate reading. I do however love the movies, but I cannot vote cause I have no idea what happens in "The Return of the King".

                Basically the king returns

For the books: i like the first one best. Don't know why, maybe the general "more-happier" style than the two others.

For the movies: again the first one.

I'd say two towers, but I have only seen the first 2 movies (doh).

When I have seen the last movie, I will read the books...then I will come back to this poll and vote (next year?)

Haven't read the books, I think Two Towers is the best movie! Looking forward to the special edition on DVD in november. And of course the last movie in December!

I voted for all of them.. but I agree with Rakido there.. things are more adventurous and not so horribly dreadful in the first book.

Yeah. The King Returns, and ... guess what? Yeah, they win.

I know, terrible spoiler there. ROFL.

I also agree that the first book had this "grand adventure told by a British Country squire around the fire in a country pub" feel to it that the second and third sorely lack.

Return of the King. I just love "The Scouring of the Shire"

It HAD BETTER BE IN THE MOVIE, OR I WILL TRASH THE THEATER!

                              Sharkee?

Hmm, one wonders which language you read it in?
