  • What the hell is this???

For some time now, I notice a file simply named "~" (minus quotes of course, no extension) will pop up on my PC from time to time. I found it once when going through folders, and it just "appears" on my desktop sometimes too. WHAAT the hell app is doing this?!?

Apparently it has something to do with either outlook or outlook express, there is always one in my C drive.

    Don't worry about it.

      Weird
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

I'm running XP Pro + SP1. I sure hope this is only Outlook. Strikes me as strange that this weird shit would come from a MS app.

it's a bug introduced by one of the MS updates.
iirc it's supposed to be part of your address book & will reappear after you delete it if you add a new person into your address book.

Why? 99% of strange things on Win computers come from MS applications or O/S.

I don't consider a Windows install healthy unless it's got some files like this one that keeps popping up on my system.
