I have battened down the hatches. No work tomorrow. No metro after noon, no buses. Time for a rest.

but there is no storm in the eye.. hence I assumed it was the sides of the storm you had to worry about

        Good point.

It's getting windy. I've never seen clouds move this fast before.

Seen some shots on TV just now doesn't seem very bad. The reporter had no trouble standing and there wasn't much flying around. Perhaps in a couple of hours it maybe more interesting.

I do not have a camera. I was thinking. If the reporters were smart, why not set up some remote cameras. Maybe hook them into their website to view the fury.

We've only got 3omph winds so far where I live. I live about 2 miles from BWI Airport.

              Edit:
Check out www.sunspot.net a site with a lot of local news for some footage.

@Zokes. Well, loks like the storm is weakening after it reaches US shore!

If you take a look at the settlitte images, it seems like the eye is spreading apart...

Then all we'll get, like usual, is a big rain strom. Boring. I wanna see nature kick some ass for once!

I would love to see a tornado , in person. (from a far, hehe) I love the awesome power of storms, especially lightining storms. Simply amazing.

The Eye WALL is the most severe part of the storm. If you will look at a satellite image, you will see the densest wind and rain in the ring just around the eye. A hurricane might be 1000 miles across, but the building-flattening part of it is much, much smaller. The outer bands are pretty much just rainclouds with a bit of wind.

Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?
