I saw it this wednesday. I agree with you on everything, but I can't say it wasn't entertaining at times+no Michael Cain, but there were a ms Theron, and she's very pleasing to the eye.

It's mindless fun.. it's practically impossible for a remake to be really great though. There's not much originality or creativity involved.. just bigger, more expensive effects.
