My studies have shown this is unlikely as no mallard ducks have been observed to practice lesbianism. However, I have seen mallard drakes mount its peers. As the author appears to have difficulty in identifying the sexual characteristics of the birds, despite considerable gender differentiation in their plumage, one wonders whether this interesting scientific paper was submitted for peer review
