ps. I consider PSP version 8 braindamaged though... One-click photo correction is nice, but the rest of the program is slow and they've gone and shuffled all the menus. Plus I like pixel-pushing (think good ol' Deluxe Paint) for avatars and such, but they've "Photoshopped" the UI of PSP8 so that exact pixel manipulation has become a royal pain in the *ss. => I'm sticking with version 7.Last edited by Tempest; 6 October 2003, 13:55.

I like Photo-Paint - but I suck at image manipulating... well, I don't want to be an artist anyway (gave up on that pretty quickly )

This guy is obviously competent doing what he is told to do. However, he tends to filter out realism in many cases. For example, look at the smiling gal. He has killed her eyes. It is unnatural to have lighting anywhere from the front and not to have a highlight in the eyes. Just look at the person at your side to see what I mean. When I started photography, I was always told by my mentors to always keep just one highlight in the eyes, otherwise with none, the person becomes expressionless. This is an example.
I recently used PhotoPaint twice: the first time was to restore the colours of a Kodak "snapshot", exposed to the light for 30-odd years. I succeeded quite well for the subject, but the vegetation background could have been better. The other one was a real challenge. I found a 35 mm monochrome negative which was a prize-winning photo dating from about 1954. Unfortunately, I no longer had the originals (done on a Gevabrom flock paper) -- lost in a house clearance. The neg was in shocking condition (found loose in the bottom of a box, dusty, scratched and apparently buggered beyond repair. I scanned it in and started work. I would say that the end result isn't too bad, though I'm not the one to judge, although, of course, the digital image is not as crisp as the original.Brian (the devil incarnate)

you guys might lagh at me but i find PSP and coral draw too confusing...... on the other hand photoshop is sooo easy to me.... many people in the media here find that After effects is prety easy to use and user friendly... not me.... i prefer Descreet combustion which is not considered to be as user friendly ..... like wise with adobe premier... i hate it... think its rough on the edges and not to user friendly.... Avid OTH is like second nature to me... ... then again being dyslexic i have discovered that i can spell realy complicated words better than the simpler ones.... oh welll.... this just goes to show what a perfect COCer i am eh Duty.."They say that dreams are real only as long as they last. Couldn't you say the same thing about life?"
