Actually, do they really need an aircraft carrier? (Other than showing off and stuff, I doubt with their economy they aren't willing to fight a war lol.
If they were to launch an attack to Taiwan (which I hope not and doubts it), their airbases are so close to that island that they can just fly there :| (Speaking of aircraft, anyone knows if Taiwan is planning to buy F35-B? That would be a great advantage because STOVL... if China takes out their airbases then Taiwan can still launch their planes)
Anyways, for those who are interested about the chinese space program...

Stage 1: Develop a manned space craft (just accomplished)
Stage 2: Space lab (I am guessing its not perminantly manned)
Stage 3: Reuseable orbiter
I doubt the 3rd will be any time soon. I'd say at least 20 years from now.
