Received this message a few minutes ago:

BE AWARE THAT A POSSIBLE STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM IS
HEADED TOWARDS THE EARTH AND IS EXPECTED TO REACH EARTH FRIDAY
AFTERNOON OCTOBER 24, 2003. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF OUTAGES
AND INTERRUPTIONS OF CELL PHONE AND PAGER SERVICE BECAUSE OF
ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE. SATELLITES ARE ALSO VERY VULNERABLE
TO SOLAR ACTIVITY. SOLAR ACTIVITY IS RATED ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 5
WITH 5 BEING THE MOST INTENSE. THE STORM APPROACHING IS
EXPECTED TO BE A 3, OR MODERATE.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT visit...

and that's the CME from sunspot 484, wait for the class 5 that'll hit about 16 hours later from spot 486 (glancing blow)

FYI class 5 bursts are larger than the sun itself... was looking at one the other night that extended all the way out to Venus back in... '00 I believe (been looking at alot of these lately)

B, NASA sent that one out yesterday. But even they are a bit slow to the punch at times. What good is an alert if informed after the fact? Exactly

And annoyingly, the SEC's site has been so slow as to be virtually useless for the last few days. Here is a site that has direct links to the important data.

What's weird about this is that we're ~3.5 years past solar max.

Now you just have to come up with an explanation for all the other days.

Just made the news tonight more big solar flares on the way. Northern lights maybe visable across the whole of Britain. I checked the forecast and it's rain for the next two days, although we need it, it could have waited a until the end of the week.
