This is posted by request from an anonymous MURCer who is about to pass out. I found it interesting so I decided to post it.

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice????????

    Think about it........

All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.

    This says it all!

After hearing that the state of Florida changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered this is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

    IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.

Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every! citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it!

    AMEN

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please

I agree with both your points.

I have been an immigrant to three countries at different times and a visitor to many more. I have always tried to integrate unobtrusively, even if the culture is very different.

In the local paper, there are often 'Letters to the Editor', mostly written by Brits, complaining about this or that way of life of the Cypriots, the way they drive, the way they smoke, the way they're noisy, the way they sometimes get fleeced through their own fault etc. I cringe when I see how they complain about their hosts and am honestly ashamed about the manner they criticise the country they have decided to retire in, even though I may privately agree with them, from time to time. This is not just discourteous, it's downright rude.

Yup. But let's face it - America is becoming a "bilingual" country. Everywhere you go that's a government building has Spanish as well as English.

We're so worried about offending people that we forget that Political Correctness is NOT LAW.

I had a bunch of great examples a while back that I'll see if I can dig up of people who sued companies over "offensive" speech or policies - and were laughed out of court because like it or not PC is NOT LEGAL.

I'm the least you could do, oh yeah

I disagree with it pretty much from first to last.
Starting with "What the hells wrong with saying Merry Christmas?"

Continuing with "If you''ll at least try to learn English, I'll try to make things easier for you while you're learning."

          And ending with "Don't Leave!"
          Join the party.
If I greet you with Merry Christmas, say Merry Christmas back.
If you greet me with Happy XXXX*, I'll greet you with Happy XXXX* back.
          Politeness doesn't cost a thing.

I just feel way too privileged to be very paranoid about this stuff.

hell even moslims say "mery christmas" to both moslims and christians... their are moslim based companies that call on thier christian costomers to wish them a mery crhistmas... and i am not talking big companies only.... the oposit is also true... christians calling the muslims to tell them "merry ramadan" or what ever it translates to ..... but inspite off all that things are not quite right between the two... lebanon is one hell of confused country if you ask me... too many contradictions..... leb has one hell of an identity crisis...

was going to post something about colonialism, missionaries and empirialists but to hell with it... i agree that when someone imigrates to another country (or even visits) he/she should learn how to integrate rather than subvert... (or why els imigrate in the first place...)

(for comic perpouses only): this reminds me so mutch of those american movies where americans are in some "forigne" country complaining about something and crying out "But I am American"

lol ... my Dad is like that. I haven't traveled abroad a whole lot, but I try and fit in as much as possible on those rare occasion I do.

But this isn't a problem just in the USA. I met an Arab man in Denmark once you had lived in DK for 20 years and only knew enough Danish to shop and ask where the toilet was. I heard that Germany has a similar problem with Turks as well.

My first college roommate's father could speak very good english, but his accent was so strong (at least to me) that I had to have complete silence and concentration to understand him. I must say that at least they were trying. And also one of the other guys in my suite was from Saudi Arabia and his English was OK when I first met him and damn near perfect the last time I saw him.

we in, the arb world have a hard time understanding one another due to the difrent dialects of arabic.... .... even within lebanon between lebanese themselves :d .... but must imigrants to lebanon and the arab world are usualy from srilanka, philipeens, sudan, bengladesh and other indonesian countries (yes i know sudan is african) the problem here in leb is that these "imigrants" (or rather visitors searching for work) are treated like dirt..... think of them as slaves without the actual slavery.... they work in houses as nanines, house cleaners.. etc,... etc... lebanese mothers let thire kids be brought up by them.... and yet every year there are casses of brutality against them from thier "employers" and they dont have any rights in court.... several of them have colage degrees... yet they take the ugly jobs ... i feel sory for them.... the lebanese are very arogant and concited people who care fro nothing more than their apearences... youd see them own the newest cars on one hand but they can barly pay thier bills on the other..... IMHO all the "forigners" in lebanon should be asked to leave so that the lebanese who depend on them soooo mutch will learn something new....

when i say slavery i do mean the closest thing that you can get to it without calling it slavery... just a nanometer away from being called slavery....

then offcourse their is the syrian army/workforce ..... sure syria has control over lebanon... but the troops that are here are so for only one reason... work and lebanese money.... nothing more..... and although they take lowly jobs... if you offend one of them your history as some of them might be conected to the syrian "intelegance" (if you can call it that) agency those of you who where origonaly lebanese here at the MURC will probaly apreciate the following....
