President Bush spring a suprise visit on 600 members of the 82nd Airborn & 1st Mountain Division stationed near a forward supply base Baghdad Intl. Airport.
The visit was sprung on the troops by their commander, who was to read them the Presidents Thanksgiving proclamation. Before reading it the point was made that the most senior officer should read it, at which time the President walked on stage. Once the toops saw who that "most senior officer" actually was they rose and delivered a wild greeting with thunderous applause.
The President then gave the troops a big "thank you" for their efforts after which the troops gave him another standing ovation. He then went to the chow line and served Thanksgiving dinner to some of the troops before leaving to return to the US.
