I finally saw it on Saturday in Houston at a huge theater. I was smart and didn't buy refreshments so I wouldn't have to go to the bathroom. Loved the film.. battle of SHIT YOUR PANTS is right! That was just awesome! This has got to be the biggest movie ever made.. everything in it was big, it seemed, except four of the major characters.

I don't know why people want to argue whether or not it was the best of the three.. I view them all as one huge film, since they were made together. Boy, it was big though.. lol.

Anyone else wondering where all those Rohirrim were during the battle for Helm's Deep? I thought Eomer only took a few hundred or so with him when he was banished.

It was ... DIFFERENT ... than the other two. It was SOOOO fast. There was no time to slow down, and like Skull the Troll from PvP Online says... "There's really no good place to go pee!"

But honestly, this last chapter could have been TWO movies. It was 3:20 for cryin' out loud, and I keep hearing REALLY large numbers for the extended release. They have a LOT to put back in:

        - Saruman/Wormtongue, this scene is COMPLETELY different. It's clear that it was all cut... watch the camera changes when Pippin sees the Palantir. Hoo!

        - Scouring of the Shire

        - Faramir/Eowyn

        - Sam claims the ring

        - Merry and Pippin's further adventures (just a couple minutes really but it WAS written on the parchment Frodo was writing on at the end!)

        - Legolas and Gimli's further adventures...

        - Aragorn replants the tree...

        - Etc. etc.

Overall I loved it. It did, as Dave said, take a while to sink in. Like here I am 24 hours after my initial screening (yeah I waited 4 whole days, DAMN!) and I'm FINALLY ready to even start thinking about it. Trying to think about it earlier today just made my brain hurt.

All in all, a great movie. However, I was disappointed by the excessive use of slow motion during the last half hour or so. It was almost as if Jackson took a break, and had John Woo fill in for him. The big reunion at the end became funny instead of emotional, thanks to all the corny slo-mo. That time could've been much better used in other parts of the film.

I found it to be awsome.

Very touching, extremely pretty. My girlfriend liked the first movie the better, tho'.

I had a quick look around the theater - at one point at least 80% where weeping.

Prob. the best movie Ive ever seen.

Oh. And those Cinemaxx theaters are DARN nice.

I completely agree with the Slow motion stuff. Especially when they were fighting outside of the Black Gate. When that huge troll was trying to crush Aragorn. Was that just a tease for those that had never read the books?

Also as a nitpick, Frodo put the ring on the wrong finger. In the book, it's the third finger. That and Gollum is dancing and slips off, Frodo didn't tackle him after his finger was bitten off. All in all a good flick though. I'm now wondering what they're going to change/edit/remove for the Extended Edition. The few bits of information I've seen so far on it, claim that it's going to be SIX HOURS long!!!

Good flick, the ending was a bit drawn. Especially since i had to pee.

They're gonna put in all the stuff that was cut.

Scouring of the shire - easily a half hour.

                    Saruman's scenes - easily a half hour.

                    etc. etc.

And yeah, that troll/aragorn thing was DEFINITELY to bait/tease the people who didn't know what was about to happen. ROFL.

Read an interview with Peter Jackson. The Saruman bit was only 11 minutes. The scouring of the shire was never filmed, afaik.

Though I've heard rumor that the RotK EE will be 4 to 6 hours long. 6 I don't believe. 4.5 hours I would believe.

They cut 1:05 from the director's cut to get it in the theaters. So extended edition should be 4.5 hours long.

Yeah, I heard PJ didn't like the Scouring of the Shire, so it was never filmed. Sadly, that is the part I was most looking forward to.

Yeah, a great ol' knife in the back from Grima. I missed that!! One of the great parts of the books, in my opinion...
