There will be a lot of consolidation between the "drama" and "musical or comedy" lists come Oscar time, but it looks to be a good field.

My first prediction is that Seabiscuit will be dropped from the Best Picture list and replaced by Lost in Translation (most likely) or Love Actually (dark horse).

Seabiscuit is actually a really wonderful film. I'm going to be getting that one on DVD. ROTK needs to be honored with awards, though.. as so many have said, the whole trilogy is a pretty amazing achievement.

Haven't seen seabiscuit, don't like horses... is it a good flick even if one doesn't like horses or racing?

Seabiscuit's more about overcoming lifes setbacks than strictly being a horse racing movie. Americans love the underdog that makes good, which is why the Seabiscuit story (a true one) has persisted in our cultural memory.

I might have seen it, but all the horse stuff really turned me away. Maybe I should've seen or read some reviews on it.
