  • Software companies have developed an excellent anti-piracy scheme!

Make everything so bad that you'd have to pay people to install your software. I havn't seen a game recently I'd want to install even if someone gave it to me...

Prince of Persia is boring, XIII is just too lineal (it reminds me that old McGuee game). Fifa 2004 is the same as always, haven't tried it online though. Call of Duty sucks on multiplayer and is quite short in SP.

On the other hand, there are some exceptions like NFS: Underground, Worms 3D and my favourite : Pro Evolution Soccer 3

I'm looking forward to HL2 and Doom3, and the next iteration of games based on their engines.

PS: does someone remember Galapagos? it was a really nice game concept! Anyone knows of similar titles?

I'm not looking forward to Doom 3; after seeing the alpha test demo I don't see any point behind a game that's supposed to have a good graphics engine but then hides everything in darkness to make it "moody." Half-Life 2? They claim it'll run on a system like mine (1.44 GHz Tualatin, Radeon 8500)... I'll believe it when I see it. The only game I'm really looking forward to is Worlds of Warcraft, but even then I'm tempering my hope with the knowledge of the disappointment that Diablo 2 was.

I agree with you all, asside from the "Eye Candy" most of these games offer, they are all the same. Half Life 2 though is an exception, a whole new engine that sets the standard.

I remember the days where games like Tex Murphy and Wing Commander ruled the PC gaming world, each had a story line with cool gaming to boot.
I say those were the days that I wish would come back.

        Regards,
        Elie

Ah, people on their "PC's" complaining about the old days with Wing Commander? Try something a bit older like Asylum for the atari 8-bits. Now THAT was a cool game. Never did complete it. Maybe I should get an emulator and try again.... Or how about some of the Wizardy games, or the Ultimas. They just don't make good role-playing games anymore. Probably the funnest games I've played lately are Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield (simply the best multi-player game I've ever played). Also X2: The Threat could be fun (though haven't had a chance to play it yet.... Much like Deus Ex 2... no time to play lately...) Neverwinter Nights I would also say is a great game. But they are few and far between anymore.

The poor level of play is why I stick to board games against real humans in the real world.

Exactly and Absolutely! But I enjoyed the Frozen Throne RPG campaign SO much, I wouldn't mind if they released a single player warcraft rpg "light"

I haven't played a board game forever, and keep wanting to... Has anyone tried the Civilization Board game?

I hear that it's pretty good but that there is an advanced version as well.

NFSU is good but now that I've finished it ...
Fifa2k4 is worse than before (2k3 was really good) and you can't customise the controls. I was never into rpg and fps. If they had Gran Turismo for the PC i'd get it in an instant

                        Acutally Horizons have surprised me.

                        Its pretty darn good.

This screenshot wasnt meant to be a showcase (its a pointer to a location) but its the only one I have access to from Uni.
                        Screenshot of my dragon SimKin

From here theres still a good 5 minute run to the tower of the healer, as seen on the piccy (and at least 2 minutes to run up the stairs to the top, if not twice that).

Yeah, after Dungeon Master, and Eye of the Beholder, RPG games have gone no where.
