Pardon me, but what is that piece of paper that your wife and you are holding up?

      It's the religious marriage contract.
Written in Aramean, it specifies the duties of the husband to his wife and vice versa (mostly the husband's duties) and also includes a sum the husband is supposed to pay the bride if he decides to divorce her.
The sums are usually in tens of thousands and more. Most of the time (there were cases where it was) it's not legally binding. The reason for it was to make it hard for men to divorce their wives (I love saying that a wife is like a car, you need to switch to a new model every so many years ).
I signed for 360k NIS which makes around 80,000 USD.
No, I don't have that kind of money and here it's half the sum needed for a nice small apartment.

edit: She has a murc account as Alice but she spends very little time online. Computers tend to give her a headache.

I should be the one being carefull.
In my wedding video, my best friend left me a message wishing us all the best and a threat that if I ever do anything to her, he'll personally break my bones.

On the greeting card he did the same, telling me that if I cheat on her, he's taking me down hard.

The biggest problem is that not only he's my best friend, he's also a lawyer currently specialising in loans and debts. Or in other words, how to get money out of people.

Are you referring to the girl as your source of happiness or all that liquor?

Can I pick both options ?
Since I don't drink much, I'll have to admit it's the girl ?

ah. My first thought was, if you need to get her drunk before she says yes

                    congrats to both of you!

Here the girl doesn't say YES or anything else during the ceremony.
                      1. It's a good start learning to be silent
                      2. If she doesn't want to marry, what is she doing there in the first place ?
