sorry, but 2 months is bullshit (no offense to you, i guess you heard that from an *experienced* breeder). The absolute earliest date to give the kittens to the new owner is with 12 weeks. Out of our own experience the last years, we shifted this back and we give our kittens now away with 15 weeks.
If you get the cat with 8 weeks, there's no way it can learn all the social behaviours needed (how to get clean is the easiest part). The cat needs to play with the other kittens to learn how to use their claws properly (the peak period of this 'social play' is between 9 and 14 weeks). They need to learn the variety of other things in the world like loud noises, radio, other animals like dogs. The longer they learn this in their trusted environment together with the other kittens, the better.

Giving kitten away with 8 weeks is a fine example of "i have no clue, but i want the money as soon as possible".

2 months are actually 9 weeks
The 2 months thing isn't something I heard either. Since I lived with cats ever since I remember myself (which happens to be somewhere around the age of 2+ years) and our cat had a few litters, I had a few chances to see how kittens grow.
I don't know, maybe our stray cats grow faster than other breeds.
