Little Addendums to my Website:
Current Occupation: Network/IT Support for the "World's Most Admired Company"*
Graduated 1987 from H.S.: We got our diplomas in the mail after commencement because they canned the old principal mid-year, and the law stated that the current principal had to be written onto the Diploma. (Male) Vice Principal ran off with the (Considerably Older, Female) Assistant Principal, but that's a whole other story...
Worked in the Firearms Industry for five years professionally: from before I graduated High School until I left Kalifornistan. Also Moonlighted at a hobbyshop. De-facto Computer support for the Hobby Shop's Atari XT systems running proprietary software from the franchiser (Who was, in hindsight, actually a very sharp programmer).
Relocated to Arkansas in 1991: Promptly went to School in Arizona for two years and graduated. Worked PT in the Aerospace Industry making engine parts through school.
1993-1994 Went back to Arkansas, worked in a motorcycle shop until I got tired of scraping $#!t off of 4-wheelers just to get to the damn valve covers. Began Moonlighting at a hobby shop for seven years.
1994 Went back into the Shooting Sports industry at Daisy Manufacturing: QA Specialist. Found out computers were suddenly cool again. Found and married a local girl: We Both Got Laid Off from Daisy in early 1998 when they outsourced everything.
1998 Work From Home Father, working Mother; Daughter Born in Late Winter: Computer Service people were in short supply, made decent money assembling/repairing systems from my Garage until mid-2000, then things got rough with the Tech implosion and recession stopping everybody from spending money. Businesses in this area are still feeling some aftershocks here and there. But the situation is far better than in 2000-2001.
2001-present. A son is added to the tribe: same day Got Hired by the "World's Most Admired Company"*
Shock Introduction to Unix/Informix/CICS systems. Several quick promotions and quite a few raises later, I'm preparing to move from support/administration team to an administration/development team. Sounds like a small move, but it isn't. Not when you're working on systems this big. This Ride is starting to get interesting...
