    That would be arbout right those old Electric Fires were 1 KWh per bar (and as tony says - up to 3 bars)... I still have one at home, I am sure.. from student days..... (and a ?Kosengas?/SuperSir burner - remember them?)

    If I can find it (in the attic, I am sure..) I will take a picture of it....

      The best ones had plastic "wood" over a bulb with a rotating grill to give an oh-so-realistic "flames" effect... in fact we still use one in Yorkshire occasionally when we can't be bothered to light a fire...
