What is your problem, people? He WANTED to be eaten. I find it disgusting, sure, but they may do whatever they please as long as they don't hurt anybody who doesn't want to be hurt. I would never engage in s/m also, but I have no problem with people whipping each other behind closed doors.

BTW, we in germany don't believe in extra-hard punishment like you in the US. And honestly, I can't see your system working any better.

It's a life sentence. Life sentences CAN be (and are often) ended after 15 years of good conduct and little risk of recidivism.

                  The guy isnt even sick.
He went through a WHOLE bunch of psych tests. He just really digs the idea of eating other people.

The guy he eat volunteered. THis wasnt murder, since the were amble evidence that they both planned it together.

It WAS still illegal - assisted suicide is illegal in Germany.
But they couldnt convict him of murder.

I think the sentence is very fitting. Its not likely that he will ever get the opportunity again - so no need to push him on "account of public safety".

That we (or I at least) find his actions somewhat disgusting (and very, very weird) isnt in it self enough to sentence him.

Both of them were sick. How can anyone think it's normal to want to be killed and eaten? Saying that, it's probably a good idea to get rid of those people, so.. no biggie.

Now all that needs to be done is to have someone off the cannibal.. no biggie, either, because you can just say "Oh, he wanted me to kill him!" and the German courts would say, "Oh, okay.. maximum 5 year sentence for mercy killing, please move on." Then when you get out, go and rape and murder a little girl.. no biggie either.. "She asked me to rape and murder her!" .. "Oh, ok then, you naaughty boy.. tsk tsk"

You can say this kind of leniency "works" if you want to, but to what end?

Well, Im no psychologist. If a proffesional and qualified Psychologists tells the court that this guy isnt, in any medical sense, sick, then I tend to believe him.

I hope the ability to belive in the words of trained proffesionals isnt the reason you want to avoid Denmark?

Or the fact that we have one of the lowest number of crimerelated killings in the world?

I can understand you disinterest, if you simply find this little country to be booring and "too safe to warrant a visit".

Take a field trip to Afghanistan instead. Much more "fun".

The important matter here is not what some "professional" thinks. Does the society at large think that such an act is "normal?" "Not sick?"

you mean not following a mainstream-opinion makes you "sick"?
