Provided here is a list of songs I really love, if you find something in common between them all, please feel free to add other songs that are of the same kind (and how the hell do you call this ?):

    Kristin Hersh - Your Ghost
    Mazzy Star - Fade
Grant Lee Buffalo - Honey Don't Think
    Grant Lee Buffalo - Fuzzy
Radio Head - High and dry
    Radio Head - Street Spirit
    Radio Head - Karma Police
    Aimee Mann - Save Me
    David Gray - Babylon

'High and dry' sent my loudspeakers twice for tuning because they vibrated.

Sorry, you live in a different world from me, even if we live only a few hundred km apart. Never heard of any of them!

Well if you like RadioHead, you might like Muse. It sometimes sounds very similar and I know Radiohead inspired Muse a lot.

Oh yeah, Muse can be nice. You could also check out Porcupine Tree if you like "psychedelic" music, though PT have a lot of different styles.

I've heard of some of the others, but have only listened to 'Mazzy Star - Fade' and what an excellent song it is.

Try any Jewel song and listen to the song in my sig.

OH MY GOD!!! ANOTHER HUMAN HAS HEARD OF PORCUPINE TREE!!!!! Man they rock. HAS to be the best band that not too many North American people have heard of. Damn shame too. They continued where Pink Floyd left off, and took the music in different (and fantastic) directions. And they're in the studio as we speak.

Radioheads depressing soft stuff is excellent. Fake Plastic Trees is a great song, in the same vein as Street Spirit. Love em both. Is that Mazzy Star song called "Fade" or "Fade Into You"? I've heard Fade Into You and its EXCELLENT. Gotta love that opening line, cheesy or not: "I want to hold the hand inside you".

It's called 'Fade into you', it was the song my wife chose for our wedding dance
If you loved it, you'll probably like Kristin Hersh's "Your Ghost".
                        I'll check the names you've mentioned - Thanks !

For those of you who never heard those names, I'd recommend you to stop by your local CD retailer and listen to those tunes.
They are a bit melancholic but far from "cut your wrists".
Actually, on a good set of speakers it can warm up a cold evening.
