  • 300mhz Prescott? Read whole article.

OK this confirms it. The Inquirer is on crack!

AS INTEL APPEARS to have decided that Megahertz Madness is now a thing of the past, we're looking forward to when it introduces a 300MHz Prescott Pentium 4 on its 90 nanometre process.
This will run very cool and get us back to the time when we had to pay for central heating, rather than have our PC be part of the "Digital Home" and keep us warm on winter nights and evenings.

As a member of the "Pentium" family, it will probably retain all of the "branding" characteristics of the family, but will deliver "cool" performance at speeds you never could have imagined.

After the 300MHz Pentium 4 is introduced, we expect Intel to cut the speeds to perhaps 90MHz or so, and then announce the Pentium IIIs.

The Pentium IIs will run without fans, deliver Windows for Warehouses and Microsoft Office without any trouble at all, as well as acting as "Media Centers".

A few generations down the line, the 186 microprocessors will deliver wi-fi Centrino like characteristics with superdupermultihyperthreading and then we'll be back to 1978 again.

Which will herald the rise of Intel as a DRAM company, in a reprise of the probably forgotten "memory wars" between Japan and the USA.

    We can hardly wait.

After reading Chipzilla for a while I noticed some of their articles (minority) are well worded, well argumented and realistic, while some are outright drug trips.
