I've just watche the movie and I was curious whether Japan was correctly portrayed there or not.

While I was only there for a short while and didn't really have contact with some of the elements of Japanese culture/society portrayed, the movie didn't seem far off. The politeness was spot on, if that makes any sense.
Obviously Dan is going to be the "expert" here
