  • Yet another scam!!

Just got this e-mail today, just wondering how stupid they really think people really are....

PS: I'm not even a Citibank customer LOL

    Dear Citibank Member,

This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your E-mail
address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link
below and entering in the small window your Citibank ATM/Debit
Card number and PIN that you use on ATM.

This is done for your protection - because some of our members
no longer have access to their email addresses and we must
    verify it.

To verify your E-mail address and access your bank account,
    click on the link below:

Wow, how brazen. But it should be obvious from the language that this can't be an official letter from a big company such as citicorp.

It's sad that people still fall for these things.

Aye, I think i've received about 10 of them. Over the last 12 months or so.

And same, I'm not even a customer

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

I'm actually a customer. As soon as I saw it, reported it. This was probably 2 months back. Interestingly, if you click the link, it takes you to the citibank home page, but a small pop-up appears asking for your personal info. Very tricky. At first I didn't see the pop-up because my pop-up blocker was blocking it. Once I realized that, I turned it off for a sec to see it. I can see people falling for it.

It'll really suck when some scammer with proper command of the english language starts operating.

It's easy to tell the fake stuff by grammatical mistakes. Other times it's because of something that a corporation wouldn't do (a "Microsoft" email that says MS everywhere, with no ™ ).

Sadly, there are a LOT of people who either don't have good enough grammatical skills, or don't read the emails closely enough to be able to tell.

          sigh

How stupid would you have to be fall for that crap?
Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive, bubble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine. -- Dr. Perry Cox
