Pitch Black was pretty good. Riddick was the main character, and I believe the new movie takes place after Pitch Black. In fact there is an anime' coming out which covers the time between the two films.

Just saw ST2 at the store.. wasn't even tempted. The original was directed by Paul Verhoeven and the only thing that made it palatable was his inimitable style. This one looked like nothing more than a cheap cash in..

I watched the first 10 minutes and turned it off. Wish I could get those 10 minutes back.

I loved the original, it had an 'interesting' approach. Lots of action, blood and guts, all wrapped in a 'no i dont care that my buddy`s head just flew past me' attitude of the MI grunts.

The sequel sucked donkey balls. Big, hairy, sweaty donkey balls. Bleh. I was so looking forward to it... Sort of 'The thing', only the scenery was a desert planet instead of snow. Donkey .... balls!

Pitch Black 1 was ok. Kinda slow and drawn out. I'm up to see the sequel tho.

Riddick was more fun I thought than Pitch Black. It's a sequel, not prequel.

CoR has a number more fight sequences in it, and Vin Diesel still gets some pretty fun lines.

I unfortunately think they kind of spoiled the character of riddick with their plot twists... but... thats me..

i like him better when he was just a badass, not a badass with a mysterious backplot :/
