Overall a very poor performance, in fact both teams were pants and won't scare anyone. Mostly a boring game with most of the action coming in five minutes bursts.

Even sadder to think that Henrys best ball came from a England player and how the Ref didn't send off James I don't know.

I'd say Switzerland and Croatia are comparable teams. Our team that sucks now that they have changed the coach and didn't make it is also in that class.

I don't see Croatia taking out England.

England always have a bad game in any major championship, the proplem is we have not yet had one. England and France both played poorly, England had no width for most of the game and France seemed to not be able to change their method of attack.
Remember all three (nearly 4) goals were set pieces, no one looked like scoring in open play.
I agree with thop, eng will not make it out of the group stages.

Don't worry Sheffield United have got a even worse player. Wayne Allinson who's six foot two until he jumps for the ball then he's five foot two. Can't score with his feet and can't really score with his head. Can't flick a ball on can't hold a ball up, falls over like a sack of spuds which makes me think he's related too Heskey.

think its unfair to say it was a poor performance by both teams - 1st half England played very well and definately had the edge, the bottom line is both teams were out there saying we are not going to concede and as such its really hard to make any real chances when the opposition are defending so well and you are hesitant to attack through fear of a counter. Second half was tyipical england, we're winning so lets make a back 8 and kick the ball back to them every time we get it. Hopefully we will learn from that in future games, I sometimes wonder if it would have been more beneficial for us to have gone in 1 down at half time.

Gotta agree with you on rooney PIT, when your such a massive talent how can you let your weight get the better of you, its a criminal mistake to jepordise such skill with a weight problem, much as gazza did with his alchohol.

England have only themselves to blame, Becks missed a bloody penalty for crying out loud. Shit he must have known that Barthez is weaker to his left, better to miss to that side. Idiotic challenge by Heskey to give the free kick, but you'd think Gerrard would have kept the ball in France's half, surely he must have known that time was running out. I started groaning the minute he passed it, then I saw Henry running on to it and said to my brothers, penalty coming up. The thing is if James had gone after the ball he might not have conceded the penalty. How he stayed on the field is a mystery. It isn't a surprise that the game panned out as it did in terms of the play, as most of the opposing players are teammates. The midfield missed Nicky Butt and possibly Jenas or Dyer would have added more thrust. Not sure either is in the squad. On an unrelated note, any Nottingham Forest fans here? Marlon King can shoot well, he scored in the 1-1 draw on the weekend (Jam. v Haiti)

Nicky Butt is out with a knee injury. Scholes is much better in the centre of midfield which is where he wandered giving the team a very unbalanced look.
