Boy did they make hard work of it.

Russian Goalkeeper incorrectly sent as off as there was no way that either the linesman or the Ref could see if there was any contact with the ball by the hand outside the area. The lineman on the blind side and the Ref to far away.

Anyway it made the game better as Russia with ten men decided to attack which in theory should have made it easier for Portugal to carve them up.

Only late in the match did Portugal score the second to make the game safe.

I suppose the papers will be screaming about a pitch invasion holding the game up tomorrow.

A yellow card would have been more appropiate, even if he made a handsball. You can clearly see on the replays that he didn't touched the ball he even made a very good effort to avoid touching the ball.

I didn't think he even knew where the ball was at first as it looked like he was trying to get up then realised he was close to handling.

I blame the authorites who've told Refs to clamp down. They now so afraid in missing something it's book first ask questions later. Have you noticed that ref books every slightly bad tackle within the first 15 - 20 minutes then puts the book away until the last 10 - 15 minutes. If he didn't there be a load of reds and the game would have to be abandoned.
