I'm sure, you've all heard of gmail - the Google free email.
Here's a preview on Extremetech.
The thing is not yet public and is currently in beta. Those who already have an account, get invites from time to time.
Some information:
- Privacy concern - google computers scan your email to deliver text adds. Of course most other mails on other free servers are also not 100% private. If you need a private account, your own server is best.
- you get 1000MB of free inbox space
- user name must be at least 6 characters long
- after a while, one gets 3 invites and latter might get more, supposedly based on length and number of messages sent.
Rules:
- I've got one invitation left now (I might get more in the future), which I plan to give to a fellow murcer.
- Whoever gets the invitation and gmail account, should post here and invite some other fellow MURCer, so that the whole community eventually benefits.
- The first well established (meaning someone, who has been here for a while, not a mini with few posts) MURCer to post here and PM me with his email adress* (name AT domain DOT com) will get an invitation. What I ask in return is to post here when you get invites and invite one or more fellow Murcers.
Obviously, it will go public soon, but being among first and being able to snag nice firstname or favourite nickname (there's a 6 letter minimum rule though) accounts is a benefit.
*Supposedly hotmail doesn't work - gets rejected. Yahoo works, that's how I got my invite.
