knowing how they've made charges in the past I'd suspect the police not to charge the PT driver with anything more than running a red light and possibly wreckless operation... but nothing for the benefit of the pedestrian.

Friend of mine who was still 15 (no license in Ohio) was driving to his GF's house one sunday afternoon a 1.5 weeks before his 16th BDay... driving his own car mind you... when a woman in her mid 50's hit him from behind when not paying attention to traffic on a "Sunday drive" in the country... he was sitting in the median waiting for a semi to drive by so he could turn... hit him from behind and shoved him into the path of the Semi, killing him instantly. Because he didn't have a license he therefore shouldn't have been on the road way and therefore no charges were filed against the female operator.

BTW he'd had the car for some 6 months (rebuilding it from the frame up) and had already completed drivers ed, was only waiting for his BDay to be legal.

@Elie, That was pretty intense footage. Disturbing actually. Can we have a little warning next time? Please.

(I'm not being sarcastic. I'm trying to ask nicely.)
          P.S. You've been Spanked!

Here in Sweden you can pretty much kill anyone you want by driving over them and not recieving any worse punishment than loosing your licence for a couple of months as long as you are drunk enough when you did it.......

                    Totally insane

Just shows what petty idiots police can be. The guy's parents should have filed civil charges against the woman.

Sadly it wasn't the police to blame for this tragedy but the legal system

Well, the pedestrian appears to cross a red light.

And outside of a pedestrian cross zone.

Normaly he would only be yelled at, here the fact that another person broke the law, resulted in his undoing.

But the SUV driver should have seen the pedestrian and slowed down. Based on the footage it appears that the driver hadn't slowed down prior to entering the intersection.
