  • Melatonin brand recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a good melatonin brand? All I can get easily here is Natrol, which quite frankly sucks (and Google tells me I'm not the only one who thinks so). But I've got a friend who'll be in the USA for the next week or so, so hopefully I can have him pick some up for me. So what do people recommend, and what would they stay clear of?
Blah blah blah nick blah blah confusion, blah blah blah blah frog.

Source Naturals. They offer it as both sublingual liquid and tablets. I take 6 mg.

It's not reccommended to take more than 3mg per day for the average person... of course if you're >300 pounds then I could see taking 6mg.

hmm, funny how I just started hearing about this stuff.

I suffer from insomnia all the time. Is this stuff effective? addictive? safe?

Obviously, I'm asking for personal testimonials, not binding medical advice.

it works quite well.. I from time to time have boughts with insomnia where 3 hours per day max for months occur.

First put lay off anything with caffine. If you're on a daytime schedule don't consume any after 10-11am. Secondly, get some sun at least 30 minutes per day, neccessary for production of vitamin D4.

Lastly put yourself in the mode to sleep give yourself a breather away from distractions et al. I take 3mg about 30min-1 hour before heading for bed.

Melatonin helps the body produce seratonin, one of the key chemicals which induce sleep and balance other hormone productions

              Melatonin is a hormone naturally made in pineal gland. Here's the WebMD synopsis;

              WebMD: Melatonin

Greebes advice should be well taken.

I've had sleep problems since 1988 because of chronic pain problems. This has taken a considerable toll on my sleep. Taking supplemental melatonin helps what sleep I get to be much more effective.

Over the counter melatonin has been available in the US for quite some time.

I'm sure I could give Doc a run for his money, but I don't know if I could win these days. Haven't had the time to get in shape with the little terror running around, plus school, plus work, plus certs, plus house projects, plus ... well, time for gaming.

Though I do have Doc on sheer size though

Nope. 13 EEEE (47'ish Euro, and then it still too narrow).

Guess I'm the little guy in here. A mere 6'6", 225lbs, size 14D feet. The rest of you are frickin' LARGE.
