To be flippant on a serious subject (I think I have the right, being a cancer patient myself), as it is a very rare form of pancreatic cancer, it is perhaps called an iCancer
If he recovers as is suggested, I wonder whether he will be diabetic as a result of reduction of the number of islets?

IMO most likely he will be diabetic unless the tumor was very small.
