It will be crap. Spielberg directs! They won't use the funky 70ies synthie music. It will suck, unfortunately (though I will probably still watch it).

Cruise? I hope he plays an alien and is in some hideous costume the whole movie. Gawd, he sucks!

From that list of names it definitely looks old-school main-stream Hollywood. Stale and predictable (ok so we know the plot already anyway). Well my expectations are now so low it would not be _too_ hard for them to exceed them.

I have an audio CD of the broadcast. Absolutely fabulous with all the character and imperfections. Pops, music, cracks and good voice acting. It's great listening to as an OGG while working on something.

I think it has the makings of a cool movie...Tom Cruise as the main character is not a bad choice, the way Wells portrayed the hero, he does seem like a not very handy pretty boy
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I wonder what kind of twist Hollywood will bring to this basically anti-capitalist story.

They'll try to make it an anti-Republican story but it will come across as just anti-American.

I agree, on this one. There is NO WAY they can make this movie better than, or as good as, the original
