Funny ... it was a '98 Mustang that I "test drove."

      Detroit baby.
I had a chance to check out a Chrysler 300C the other day. Even with the bad hand I could get in & out of the back seat with ease and it had enough room for my 300+ lb 6'1" frame to boot. My size 15 feet even fit in there

Once inside it was quite comfortable front and rear. On the road it cornered flat for a car of its size & type, exhibiting pretty good traction as well. Its acceleration is what you'd expect for overpowered Detroit iron. Throttle response and steering were also very good.

If you look under the hood you immediately see the reason for the boxy front end: it's necessary in order to shoe-horn in that 5.7 liter V-8 Hemi engine. That sucker is huge.

In short it's VERY roomy, luxurious and fast enough to get your adrenaline pumping. I liked it.

Chrysler must be liking the response so far. I see in the market reports that they've sold 40,000 of the straight Chrysler 300's since April with 93,000+ on order. The 300C has sold 7,000 just since June with another 40,000+ on order. Both are often being sold at higher-than-list prices.

I also read that in late 2005 Chrysler is coming out with a 2006 version of the Dodge Charger. Making things even more interesting is that Chrysler has filed a name patent in Canada for "Super Bee". This was a special edition car back in the Muscle Car days. Word is another special edition will use the "Daytona" name. A version of this car is expected to run in the upcoming NASCAR season.

Other rumors state that a performance version of the new Charger (and an updated Viper) will offer a 7.7 liter V-10 Hemi rated at 600 hp

Ahh yes, I remember it well and quote it often. I'm just worried about what's in the lane next to me in that blind spot.

They're all made at the factory that's about 10 minutes from my house. I pass car-carrier trucks full of them on the highway every day. It's too bad I'm not a chrysler fan, because we always get to see the new models before they're released. I've been seeing the new Dodge Magnum station wagons for months now.

It's kinda neat to see how far ahead of release they actually start making new cars, just to get the stocks out throughout the continent.

We've been hearing things about new Chargers for the longest time, definitely hope it makes it next year though. The return of the Super Bee & Daytona is an interesting twist though, I most certainly did not see that one coming. Why would they even build another car specifically for NASCAR, now that all they use is the sheet metal anyway.

I'm a little disappointed this revival didn't happen sooner, especially since Plymouth & Olds have been murdered recently. 'Cuda, Road Runner, Superbird should also have been coming and a 442 would have been hot on the tail of the new GTO no doubt.

Btw, I hope a badass motor like that will make it into the Charger, but I also hope they don't go overboard and unaffordable.
