  • Clue #6 (cryptic): Five interlocking coloured rings and 500 m

    • La Tour Haldimand, Lausanne, built by William Haldimand.

That was tough, but a digitised Hansard got me there in the end.

        • Yes, indeed, it is the Tour Haldimand. I did say it was tricky. Three guys had a competition as to who could build the best medieval-style ruin in Lausanne. Haldimand won. It is on the banks of Lac Léman (aka Lake of Geneva) and was originally in the water. The allusion in Clue #6 was that it is about 500 m along the lakeside road from the Olympic Museum and Olympic Committee HQ.

This was another one of the follies (I guess the third one has disappeared).

            • Correct continent.

I got the Olympics, but what was the 500m reference?

              • If I were to show you a picture of this towering rock you'd get it straght away. I thought this close encounter might have been sufficient.

                    • It is. I am dissappointed my clues didn't give it away.
