                          • For capturing moisture when planting... vines? (For some reason olives came to mind but then surely you'd see some mature trees there). So perhaps Cyprus? To keep with the easy theme?

                            • Africa yes, Cyprus no, vine protection yes (good one!). Where? As far as I know, this technique is used in only one place in the world and this photo gives you a better idea how the vines are planted.
