  • *SEMI SPAM* Free $25

First off, if anyone feels this is against the rules or that I am out of line, let me know and I'll remove this post.

Plain and simple, I have 25 referral spots to give out to my friends to open a savings account with ING direct ( http://www.ingdirect.com ).

If you open a savings account with them, you get $25 and a interest rate of 2.2% and I get $10 for each referral. That's it, there is no catch. There are no fees, there is no hidden anything and you only need $1 to open the account. If you open the account you also get the same 25 referral offer.

It's a plain ol' savings account with a great interest rate.

As with anything like this, I highly recommend you look into it before taking the plunge.

Really, there is no catch. Also, you can freely move money back and forth between your checking account and your new savings account online.

Here ia a direct link to the account offer. https://secure3.ingdirect.com/tpw/St...nt.html&link=3

If you are interested, please PM me and I'll send you a refferal email.

    Thanks,
    Dave

My wife has been doing this for a few weeks. I think we're up to $160.

While I am not going to encourage this, nor comment on the merrits, I have no problem with your post. You have been upfront about what you get out of it, and you made a genuine warning about looking it over seriously first.

Indeed, I'd say 2.2% US vs 4.7% may well be an accurate reflection of thje difference in the two currencies exchange rate.

They (ING) have done this quite succesfully in a number of countries now, Spain is one I know of that really is a succes story apparantly.

They dont have t'his in the Netherlands (ING is Dutch), but thta is cause the savings market is prolly never as developed as it is over here. Anything between 3.0% and 3.6% can be made here.

Good luck. I don;t like them, but they seem to be trustworthy fellows with decent serice and intrest rates.

I really don't smurf why I am wrinting all this...for smurfing out loud

2.2% here for a savings account is unheard of. As a matter of fact, most Money Marktet accounts can't even come close. Let's see, let me check my current banks interest rates....

The Money Market account starts at .75% and goes as high as 1.1% (but you need 500k in the bank to get this rate). Regular savings is .40% and a traditional CD only surpasses the 2.22% if you have your money in the bank for longer than 17 months. And this is typical for most banks.

So as you can see, getting 2.22% from the start for as little as $1 is a much better deal.

Indeed. That is why ING Direct has been so succesfull. They've identified the less developed savings markets, i.e., the ones where normal people hardly get any interest on normal, easy to draw, savings accounts.

I'd say, go for it. Of course, if your savings are 10k, it'll *only* net you $135 after a year, so it won't make you rich. But that $135 sure is a nice movie and good dinner for two (where I come from at least), prolly a bit more.

                      edit: spelling, grammar.

I've been a happy INGDirect.ca customer for several years now. Great rates, never any service charges, easy to get at your money when you want. If only they had chequing accounts. It's kinda funny, I'm an employee at one of the "big five" canadian banks, yet I'm always promoting ING.

I guess I'm not too suprised nobody from MURC jumped on this. I doubt I'd jump on it if I was on the other end. It's easier when your good friend approaches you in person and talks to you about it, which is what happened to me. And the only 3 people that I got to sign up so far are my two closest friends and my wife

@Indiana: It's funny, I have never heard a complaint about ING yet. I've been following them for about a year now and almost opened some investment accounts a few times but decided to wait. When this savings account opportunity came up, I decided to jump on it and see how it goes.

Since I posted this a year ago, the interest rate has gone up to 3.15%. The offer still stands if anyone is interested.
