Hasn't been a lot of good movie trailers and movie news lately, but things are finally starting to look up
We begin with one of the most anticipated movies of the 2005 summer season. 2005 you ask? Yes, 2005 will bring in Christian Bale as Batman, in Batman Begins. This is a typical teaser trailer, but looks promising from a teaser standpoint. The Batmobile may look ugly, but as long as the movie is good, not many people will really mind.
Doc pointed this one out. The Phantom of the Opera gets a theatrical release. Written by Andrew Llyod Weber, with help from Joel Schumacher, the teaser gives absolutely no clue as to whether this will be theatrical, musical, or full-opera (there's obviously SOME opera in it). Hopefully the full trailer will give the clue.
Jet Li finally did the wise thing, giving Joel Silver the bad side of his middle finger, and went back to Hong Kong where people know how to use his martial arts talent correctly. Hero is getting rave reviews here in the US, and I really liked it too (got a HK copy). Fans of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will love this film ... and even if you didn't like CT/HD, you'll still probably like it.
Milla Jovovich returns to her gun totting bad @$$ security 'specialist' in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I suppose it'll be one of those "if you liked the first, you'll like the second" ordeals. It should be entertaining in the least.
Blade: Trinity comes out just in time to heat up the winter. This one doesn't look near as silly as the second one. Rumormill has this one being just as good as the first. Time will be the final judge of course:
Trying to ride the Michael Moore success wave, the South Park duo, Trey Parker and Matt Stoned, are coming out with a puppet show called Team America: World Police. Considering they haven't done a single funny thing since the second season of South Park ... yeah.
An interesting movie, Paparazzi, hits theaters next month. If anything, every A-list actor and celeb in the world will see it:
Now on to Japanese shores. Fans of the old manga/movie will be thrilled to hear that Appleseed is getting a makeover. It looks like it's being done with CG rendered cell shade animation. This is a great old SciFi tale which spawned much of the cyborg hype in Japan and was the inspiration for shows like Armitage and Ghost in the Shell. This one is all in Japanese (except background music), so unless you know Japanese, just enjoy the visuals.
Speaking of Ghost in the Shell, GitS 2, Innocence hits theaters world wide in September. You'll have to navigate a bit to get to the trailer, but it's there. I recommend watching the High Res Quicktime trailer
And that aboot covers it for today.
