I know that you don't often see this kind of thing in NoDak, but yes. The term is short for "Black Heavy Metal".....as in the poor bastard children of Alice Cooper, but with far less talent

When I was working for a local furniture company I went with a crew to a job in Omaha. The only music they listened to was this "black metal" stuff. I kept sane by telling myself "at least it's not C&W." On the drive back I got a few laughs by telling my co-workers "When I get home I think I'm gonna put on some Tchaikovsky!"

The funny thing is, if you listen to enough of this stuff you're bound to hear SOMETHING you'll like. I couldn't name but one song of Godsmack's. The main reason I like "Voodoo" is the percussion.

And that's the extent of my knowledge of "black Metal" except for what my pistol is made of. My 20 year old nephew on the other hand...
