    Well at least it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it could have been. Anyone who remembers Andrew and some others can vouch for that. Which is a good thing, having to wait through two hurricanes and hours of wind and rain is bad enough on the mind. That and the power being out.

      Ditto... yesterday Ivan went from a lowly tropical storm to a catagory 4 hurricane.

      If it continues on it's projected path should bash southern Florida by Saturday

        I have a feeling this is making the area ripe for bloodsucking "investors" to come in and buy up land cheap from farmers who had their crops destroyed or people who don't want to rebuild their house.

          Inland there is lots of land for cheap... along the coasts tho what a home costing say $100k in Doc's neighbourhood would cost upwards of $500k-several million depending on just where.

          So it's not the cost of the home per se, most times they'll just buldoze and rebuild. In some areas when a storm takes out you house you are not allowed to rebuild on the land. This is particulary true of the barrier islands, keys and those who built on top of the dunes before there were laws prohibiting it.


          BTW the Storm is over now.. well for us in this part of the state, the panhandle/state capitol is getting nailed now
