Actually, when I got home from work that day and heard water flowing in the garage I assumed that it was the water heater.
Which sits in the garage 2 feet from a floor drain.
That is, untill I saw the water was running our of the garage ceiling.
With our trip so close, it was a nightmare.
Becky's folks were kind enough to come up from Austin to baby sit the house while we were gone so the cleaning company could work on drying it out.
On the other hand, it would have been WAY worse if it had happened two days later with just our teanage dog sitter in & out three times a day.
I have no idea what she would have thought to do.

PS There are remarkably few basements in central Oklahoma.
Especialy considering the high number of tornadoes.
But, clay soil and shallow ground water combine to create lots of problems.
I wish we had one though....

You've convinced me. I just made an appointment to replace my hot water heater. My old one is 20 years old.

Glad my hot water heater is only 4 years old. If I had 60 gallons every where at the moment, we'd have a lot of busted electronic goodies.

@Doc: I wanna beat up Murphy too, but I forget why though.
