I like him a lot better since the Belgian GP is back on the calendar...

No, just kidding, how can he pull Silverstone? I mean, it is the cradle of motorracing!

I wonder if the teams are giving their plans to organize their own races after the F1 contract expires more thought...

I like what they are proposing in Dubai, races with standardised identical cars, purpose-built with, I think, 4.3 l engines. The idea is to have the races test the drivers' skills.

Well, there was this suggestion that allowed the current system of both teams (and cars) and drivers to be maintained.

The idea was to have drivers swap cars, so that every driver got to drive every car during a season. I believe Paul Stoddart liked this idea. However, it would make sponsorship and advertising much more difficult.
It would also mean that the team and drivers' championship would be much more independant...

That was Max Moseley's idea. He went very quiet for a long time after that one!

BRDC president Sir Jackie Stewart described the decision as "a disaster" and called on Ecclestone to rethink.
                      RETHINK??

That a**hole needs to RESIGN !!

How that jackass can think of having an F1 season without Silversone is so far beyond any kind of common sense it's rediculous.

Then maybe the F1 drivers & teams should do what was done over here with the Indy series: form their own association and let Bernie race go-karts.

It has been mooted before now...they got dangerously close to forming a breakway series last year (obviously it wouldn't happen until the current contracts expire, which I think is 2007?).

                              nope, cannot agree on that.

we already have tons of those kind of races, in the name of "Formula 3000", "Formula Ford", "Formula BMW" etc.

The Formula 1 should pretty much stay as it is, that way all participating parties are forced to build to best the can to stay on top.

Admittedly, it has become somewhat boring over the last years, mainly caused by the domination of Ferrari and Michael Schuhmacher, but that''s how life is, "the best comes in first".

But still, I would not appreciate any external attempt to even out (or penalize) the advantage that some teams have over the competition.

                              Just my two cents ...

Oh, and Bernie should definately resign, like Doc so perfectly suggested !
