To be honest I don't consider this a great loss. It seems to me that for many years the F1 calendar was basically fixed to the same curcuits year after year. Lately new tracks are shooting up and I likek that they are given a chance (even if in some cases it's money that is the deciding factor). I never had much of an attachment to the Silverstone grand prix.

And if they want to give new tracks a chance they need to pull something else from the calendar.

One option could be to do sort of a "rotation" between any number of Tracks that wish to host an F1 event. Say you had a list of 25 tracks. Every year 8 would be left out (assuming a 17 race season). Then they could "take turns" at sitting one season out.

I always found it an odd thought that some grand prix's are almost holy, based only on the "fact" that they are "classic"! Like the Monaco grand Prix... what is so special about it? It's a classic event!? So what... it's a boring race, the track is not suited for modern auto racing. No race should be off limits as far as pulling it from the calendar goes. F1 needs to evolve. Renewal is required if they are to keep races interresting. And not just regulation as far as cars go. The entire sport needs an overhaul and I think tracks are as much subject to change as anything else.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Who put Bernie in charge anyway, oh that's right he did

Martin Brundle, who's involved with the BRDC said he presented the plans to Bernie and he didn't even bother to look at them

And as for this idea of a London GP......

A huge part of F1 is the classic venues.. I thought it was great when they brought it back to the Nurburgring.
